Overflow Lid?

I have a new 90g AGA reef ready with mega flow. I was wondering do people put a lid over the overflow to keep light out so algae and things dont grow and clog the standpipes?

Is that a concern, if so whats the best way to cover it?

I have some snails in mine. They keep it nice and clean. But coraline will eventually cover every inch.

Just wondering, what type of snails you have in there? Wouldn't the current be to strong for them?

I put a big mexican turbo snail into my megaflow overflow. Too big to fith through the strainer, and eats lots of algae.

I used to put a piece of tin-foil as an overflow cover. Cheap and works good. I took it off so the snail in the overflow would have SOME algae to eat and not starve.
