We just received our first mantis, a beautiful 5 " peacock. He was suffering from shipping stress after 36 hours in a bag. The water was cold. I warmed him up and left him in his forty gallon tank and he came round and is doing great. Phew! We are feeding him fresh live periwinkles and mussels ( the joys of living 5 minutes from the ocean!) and he is eating, active and inquisitive.
He has a spot on his back near the tail that looks like a result of rough handling or shipping damage. THe shell looks thin and damaged. Other than keeping the calcium levels up in his tank and his water clean, is there anything else we can do? I have kept crayfish - this looks like a spot that would still be around after a moult.
Thanks!
