P.E. Mysis Yah or Nay?

1) It's not necessary to rinse the mysis

2) preferred method with flat packs is letting the fish eat directly off the frozen piece, directly ingesting a high percentage of the Omega 3 & Omega 6s.

3). When cubes or mysis chunks are thawed in a cup of fresh or saltwater, it is probably best to pour off most of the surfactant oils, as they typically go over the overflow, shut down the protein skimmer (if using one) and do not get into the fish. This is esp important with smaller nano reefs that continue to trend w high popularity.

Are these supplements added to the Mysis pack by the manufacturer?

Is this fact? Are there no or less phosphates in the flat pack than cube?

This guys is correct. Your RO Water/Salt Mix probably has more phosphate in it

I cut my pe mysis into 4 pieces along with brine and blood worms. I also shave some clam guts from the frozen block I have. So my feedings goes:

2 pieces of mysis
1 piece of brine
1 piece of bloodworms
Clam guts shavings

All of that is mixed with tank water i pull out with a turket baster or ro water.I always put more mysis than anything.

I rinse mine because I really see no reason to add all that "juice" and small pieces and particulates to my FOWLR which has no filter feeding inverts, or even tiny fish.

I'll continue to rinse mine as always; rinse it in a clear glass and hold in front of a light, if this doesn't convince one to give it a quick rinse nothing will, which is fine by me... :hmm5:

Haven't rinsed any food ever. But like sdguy said some tanks without filter feeders or small fish have no way to export the small crap.

For me my anthias love the tiny bits. And the oils only kill my foam head for an hour.
