Par 38 lamps

Hi,

I have an extra 10 gallon tank laying around and was wondering what and how many par 38 lamps I would have to use to light it. It is primarily going to be my sps cuts. I appreciate any help.

I'd go 2. I have a par 30 on my 4gal cube and works very well. Id think you'd have to hang it too high for good growth and have 80 degree optics to cover the tank with just one bulb depending on your dimensions. I would think you could do 2 PAR 30's if 2 38's would be too much.

I would say the same as above. I have a par 38 with 80 degree optics over my acrylic nano but it is a cube, so the light spread is perfect. For a longer tank like that you'd have to go with 2 most likely.

What optics do you think to support sps clippings? I was thinking 40 but I don't know the first thing about them. Thanks.

If you did 2 38's with 40 optics it's probably not going to cover the entire tank. You'll probably have spots dimmer than some. Some people like the spotlight effect. I'd go 60 optics with 2 38's. But that's just me. Just remember if you go 60 optics and the spread is too big you can always lower the lights just a bit. I'd rather be a bit over lit than under if that makes sence.
