parasitic snails

I have a number of very small spiral shaped snails that appear to be everywhere in my tank at night. The snails also appear to be on the clam (t. derasa). However, they are not by the mantle, just on the shell. Will parasitic snails only bother the mantle or do they bore through clam shells?

The snails are white, about .25 inches and spiral shaped.
The clam doesn't seem to be bothered by the little snails.
