Why is a scallop

Why is a scallop

question moved to a fish forum?

Can we move this back to the mollusk forum please?

Thanks

Thanks

Well aside from moving the post has anyone seen one of these?

Has anyone ever recieved one in a coral? I have some small hitchhiker clams that are doing well, so I am wondering if I could keep one of these alive.

Man I really need to get my eyes checked! The "3D" logo in the picture made it look like a tiny goby to me. Sorry, my bad. :D

I've never encountered one in any of my coral. But I imagine requirements would be similar for all scallops, i.e. lots and lots of phytoplankton.

Jim,
I thought the same thing! :)

Gusty,
It is very cool looking. I've never seen one before.

Regards,
Kevin

In a Acropora colony I purchased recently from Lonestar is a small mollusk similar to this one. To the naked eye not nearly as colorful as that one and only about the size of a dime. The SPS is growing around the mollusk base but doesn't seem to be overgrowing the shell.

That's neat

I wonder how it fights off the coral?

Do you think it a stress for the coral? I think it would make it more interesting, kind of like the barnacles in mont. and the worms in porites,

It doesn't appear to stress the coral, as the growth around it appears normal in color and shape, just doesn't encrust. Interesting you mentioned barnacles as this same colony has a small opening where a "fan arm" is constantly sweeping and retracting. Pretty sure it's a barnacle but the "fan" looks alot like crabs I've seen.
