first off i want to say that i hope all of you are safe and sound and i hope your homes are safe aswell as your pets. if you need help ask please i can help you move your furniture for free ofcourse. I had my basement flooded with about 5000Gals of water that came in threw the sewage and spent the last 3 days draining it with fishtank pumps and had some strangers lend a helping hand in emptying it so i guess i would like to return the favor to someone who may be in need.

secondly i would like to share this with you as it is something i have posted in the "new to the hobby" section of the forum too to try to spread the word.

Hi all! I live in upstate NY( one of the areas affected by the recent floods) my town has been partially evacuated along with the towns around it since most of it is under a foot or more of water.

The reason I am starting this thread is to ask people to respectfully BOYCOTT Petco. This is because in our area and i am sure other areas affected by the floods as well they closed the store and left some of the animals die inside their store because of the rising water.

That is not what a animal loving retailer would do, and not what a animal loving owner would condone. Again...im simply asking you to just avoid their bussines and instead purchase your pets or FOR your pets at a store that doesnt look at animals drowned as money lost and instead looks at them as lives that ended that didnt need to.

they built this store in particular VERY low within known previous flooding area...and despite knowing that it will happen they didnt even try to atleast move the animals on higher shelves or to a different location.

I hope some of you will take this post seriously and stop rewarding this type of bussines model.

I am not going to shop there anymore, I am so disgusted with this. Id like to know how many salt water fish actually died

Wow, really Petco? It would not have taken too much effort on their part to get the animals out of harms way.

oh i know i just wonder what sw animals perished

well they dont have sumps but their entire filtration system and pumps are on the very bottom and seeing as how that was all underwater im guessing the pumps picked up river water and pumped it to each separate compartment in their fishtanks....if that didnt happen....the power was switched off for 3-4 days now and anything in there is sitting in cold stale water....if it survived the flood.
