PH Probe storage solution

Have a pH probe that I want to put into storage. Is there any household chemical I can use to prolong the life of the probe as it sits in storage. I was thinking of using some ph 7.00 calibration fluid, would this be ok

What kind of probe do you have? LabSafety.com sells solutions specifically for pH probe storage, but that might not be appropriate for your equipment.

While there are solutions like KCl sold for this purpose, the pH 7 solution is likely fine. Diluted tank water is also likely fine. FWIW, I keep my probe in my sump 24/7 (and measuring), and it seems to be fine for long periods. The closer the water it is in to the tank, the faster it will come to equilibrium and properly measure the tank water.

Thanks all. I will use some of the calibration fluid. I am pulling the probe off my no longer used calcium reactor and want to store it for future use.

Usually KCl isollution is used for storing pH Probes.

Morton Salt substitute.
