Randy, ever heard anything about Phos-Buster, possibly made by Carib Sea? One guy recommended I try it. It seems to be a two-part solution, costs $45 and treats 250g.
I did a search of your forum, but it doesn't appear you've discussed this product before.
Sorry, I can't tell much about it from its description. It claims to have a patent pending, so when it publishes (granted or not), we can tell what it is (or at least some choices of what it might be). In the meantime, I wouldn't recommend it without knowing more.
It looks like it might be, although I've only been referred to it so far, and never seen it. It is supposed to be a two part mixture, and cost quite a bit more (at least at the LFS).
WOW !!! is that a mess. What happen Marc any idea ? Me, I would get a Vortex diatom filter, cake it with a thin layer of diatom powder, followed by a thin layer of PAC (Powdered Activate Carbon). Not that you will do this but IF you do contact me as this can get realllllly tricky The tank will be as clear as a bell in less than two hrs. It will look like it ran on ozone all its life.
Yeah. Sorry about that. Comments under pictures at the end of a post are often overlooked.
Silphos can be rinsed for slower removal, or unrinsed for quicker reduction. Since my PO4 was getting pretty dark blue (Salifert), I decided to throw caution to the wind and put the product in my tank as is. It made a huge dusty red cloud, so I just had to take a picture. As of last night, PO4 was around 1.25 to 1.5 perhaps. I'm really tempted to do it again with another fresh batch.
I'm over here thinking of sacrifice as well. Btw, I started a thread in the Chemistry forum."
I was going to try the two part, only because I do not have any SPS's only a couple of zoo's, mushrooms and a leather left. I do have a great supply of string algae thou. :mad2:
I wasn't doing for any other reason except for all the hairy stuff I am tired of looking at.
Marc as you know, My dKH is up to 14.2 (Salifert) which is too high!
What do you use to bring it down?
Boomer or Randy,
Chime in Please, I am all ears.
I am using B-Ionic 2 part cal/talk dosing a 150 g Tank around 4 ml/hour.
I use macroalgae and skimming to export nitrogen and phosphorus. Carbon too, but I expect its effect is minor in this regard. If I had a level of 1.5 ppm, I'd also use an iron based solid phosphate binder, like Rowaphos, Phosban, or Phosphate Killer. I'd also take it slow, especially as the phosphate got below 0.2 ppm.
