Pic and a Question

My daughter and I both bought a peacock mantis recently. We we wondering how big they get and how long they can live in captivity. They are both about 4 inches long right now and beautiful. The enclosed pic is of my daughters new one. Quite a beaut!

I believe scyllarus are capable of reaching 8"

what are you 2 new mantid's linving quarters? they arent togethor are they? (this can often result in death of either from fighting)

They don't get to 8" maybe 6" at most.

Thanks for the replies My mantis is living in a 6-gallon eclipse right now. I plan on upgrading him soon to a 12 gallon eclipse or a 20 long glass. My daughter's mantis is in her 30 gallon reef. He's the only occupant. She may add a few damsels later. Does anyone know how long they can live? TIA

Don't forget to keep a lid on that 20g tank. If the mantis gets freaked out he could easily end up jumping out.
