This thing grows like wildfire. At least 3" since April. My purple tank loves to swim through it, and the clam does not even flinch anymore!

YEah, mine grows very fast as well! It amazes me to see peopl put these things in smaller tanks.

This one is coming out of my 125 and into my 280. That should keep it happy for a few years

Mine grew from a baby to a 10" clam in a year and half. Has only grown another two inches since then. But at this size an inch equals alot more mass than when it went from 3" to 4", if you know what I mean.

what lighting is that under? i ask ecause mine looked identical to that when i got it, buut hte mantle has turned almost purple

Mine was originally under 2-175 W 10K Usio's with supplemental actinics until about 3 mounths ago when I moved it into my 300G tank. Now it is under 4 - 400W 15K XM's.

Mine pretty much looks exactly like the one in the picture above.

is your clam still that color or has it darkened? ive been wanting to get mine back to that color but havent figured out exactly what i need to change. im running 20k 250 xms and 10k vhos

That pic was 2 days ago. The 20k are turning it more blue/purple. Under 10ks it will look like this.
