Pics of new(ish) clam

Hello, all:

I've been a member a long time, but this is my first post in this forum. I recently upgraded from a 10g with 80W of PC to a 29g with a 250W DE + 65W PC actinic. Needless to say, my interests are in clams and SPS now. Anyway, here's a pic of my derasa. I've actually had him for a couple of months. I have a maxima that I'll try to post later. Enjoy!

Very nice clam. Looks healthy. Looks like my derasa as well.

Looks like my Derasa clam as well, up to and including the little white spots on the shell.

Perhaps they are all secretly clones of each other.

Does anyone know why that color pattern is so commen lately? It looks like my Clam too and i've seen other people with photos as well, and not to mention the LFS which had about 2 dozen

I suspect because these clams are cultured we are seeing a very common colourationa and pattern of the mantle. You would expect greater variation in pure wild clams.
