I have searched for for advice on taking pictures, but I cant seem to find any. I have a Nikkon 5600, and I can't seem to take a worthwhile pic of my tank. They come out way too bright. I have tried -2 to 2 exposure, and other options. Can anybody help me out with the right settings to get a good picture? Also, once I take a picture worth posting, how do I actually get it linked on the website? I know nothing about computers! Thanks for the help!

First thing- check out the sticky thread at the top of the forum for all kinds of great threads on how and where to get images hosted and how to post them here in the threads.
Regarding the overexposure issue- it strikes me as very odd that you still got overly bright shots when you had the exposure compensation set to -2. That should've resulted in a somewhat dark pic at least.
Have you tried using the spotmeter? Normally the matrix or center weighted metering should be very accurate with a Nikon camera so I'm thinking there may be something wrong with the camera itself.
The particular model is mostly automatic so there's not a whole lot you can do aside from exposure compensation- but try using the spot meter and aim the camera at something mid-toned (not too bright and not too dark) and take a few photos (with -2 stops of [negative] exposure compensation. Then please post an example or two so we can see what's going on.
