i have had this urchin for about 6months nowand all of his white spikes are falling off, but there are new green one coming in. is it molting? it also has not moved in three days, is it dead and should i remove it from the tank. it all started about a week ago when i added some new live rock.thanx

I believe that shedding of spines is a bad thing for urchins.
If it hast moved It sounds either dead or close to it.
Pick it up and examine to see if it is dead to avoid an ammonia spike.
When you pick it up a load more spikes might fall out.
I had the same thing with my pinchushion after about 4 months when he died.
Since then I have had a longspine urchin who survived much longer and I had to take him back to lfs when he got too big for my 55.
