i bought a pink plate coral about a week ago. it has been fine in that it eats a mysis shrimp everytime i give him one today he even caught one on his own. i have noticed it is starting to discolor some greenish almost areas. any ideas. it is still eating. it extends its tenticles but only at night it has been like that since i purchased it

do you have it on the sand bed? it could be a number of things, but it's easier to diagnose if you can get a pic

yeah to sand bed. i just read something about it maybe getting too much light. so i moved it under a ledge a little bit.

its just adjusting to your lighting. I wouldnt call it a pink plate, looks more like the common green with purple edges to me, a nice coral nonetheless

it looks much more pink in person. and thats kinda the problem. anyway i posted this about 2 weeks ago and i moved him under a ledge thinking he was in too much light. he has slowly moved himself out back into more direct light. he has started inflating himself every other night or so to about twice his (dunno why i gave him a masculine pronoun)regular size. and he still eats well.

I just got one the other day and have it in the open I fed it some fresh diced shrimp and it took a whole chunk. Great coral I got mine for $20!

mine only extends its tenticles at night, i dunno if that is common but i feel that mine is doing ok

I read they are suppose to extend at night so thats good. The guy I got it from has a 90 and got rid of it because he said its a pain for him to have to feed it. I feed it diced shrimp, I'm going to feed it about 3 times a week.

i feed mine a mysis every other night or so. it caught one by itself the other night though. that was pretty cool

lwell i am now sure it was lighting. i moved it under a shelf when it started looking bad, it has slowly plased itself somwhere in between its origional location and under the shelf. its been there a few days now and it looks much better. most of the discoloration is gone!
