Pistol shrimp lifespan

Hi,

I just realized i have had my Alpheus randalli pistol shrimp for over 2 years now, and started to wonder how long their lifespan is. I can't find anything on google or here. My goby (yasha hasa) is about the same age, but I don't know which one lives longer.

Thanks!

Different species and all, but my bullseye pistol shrimp is almost 5.5 years in the tank. No indicator that it's ready to throw in the towel anytime soon, either.

Hope that helps!

If my bullseye pistol lives 5 years in my tank it is going to be a lobster! I've had it about a year and it is huge. I've had a few caribbean pistols for over a year.

Determining the lifespan of inverts is a wild guess at best. Even the experts don't know how long some of these species live. Had my original pisol for three years but it didn't come with a birth certificate so I don't know how old it was when it disappeared one day.

Have a sexy shrimp that disappeared a year ago after three years in my tank. Saw it again last week, guess nobody told it they only live two or three years ;).

I have had one in my tank for about 5 yrs now. Maybe longer i have lost track. And it is huge.

I had a pair of YWGs and a pistol for 3 years (dont know how old any of them were when I got them), I gave them to a good friend two years ago when I moved, she still has them and all three are still doing well. So here is another 5 year observation.

April 3rd coming would have been 4 years for my Tiger Pistol, until I found bits and pieces of him spewing out my return pump a few weeks back, not sure how he made it over my overflow and into my sump, but he did. :(

I have a candy-striped pistol that I have had for 5 years now. he has survived TWO 1000 mile moves! For the past three years he has had a orange spot goby as a buddy.

I have had my bulls eye pistol for 4 years and who knows how old it was when I first purchased it. It is about 3" long, maybe a little bigger.

i have had my pistol shrimp for 6 years. in my first salt tank ever through great and not so great water parameters believe it or not i just got him a yasha yesterday and the pair are awesome. he is still only about an inch long and he uses empty shels to hide his exit holes
