I really want to add a stream (6000) to my 90 gal, but an having a hard time figuring where to place it in the tank. Is there a min. distance the stream has to be away from corals? My tank is SPS dominated. Thanks in advance.
Once acclimiated the more robust acros with thicker branches could be placed 6" away. The key is acclimation, these corals recieve similar flow in the wild but have adapted to lower flow in holding and the home aquarium and immediately putting full flow on them could cause problems.
I'll second Roger's point. I've got a nice hairy mille about 6-8 inches away from my 6100 and it's growing very well. It's been in front of that thing for months now and loves it.
I've got Montiporas about 7 inches away from my 6100 Tunze Steam and they grow very fast. Tunze 6100 in mounted on rotating axle . Rotating of pump is programmed with Aquarium Controller.
According to programme 6100 Tunze Steam blow directly in Montiporas only 10 minutes every 6 hours.
If you will place SPS (for example Acropora ) directly in front of the pump Tunze 6100 (without rotation) in distance less than 8 inches, Acropora will lose tisue in 2 days, if Tunze Steam will blow directly in Acropora continuosly.
