Please recommend a pH monitor

I need a new pH monitor. I have an old Milwaukee and it would be ~$50 to replace the probe. I think it may be more sensible to buy a new monitor.

What do I need to look for? I seem to recall temperature compensation is a key.

Good brands? useful features?

I appreciate your input.

So Randy says "Most any pH meter is OK as long as it has 2 point calibration. Beyond that, it is mostly convenience and durability."

Anyone comment on the durabilty of say...Pinpoint or other commonly available monitor?

Pinpoint meter is a fine choice. Just ensure that the calibration solution is an acceptable brand, as is milwakee, neptune

Hope this helps :)

Do you want a monitor or a meter? I use an Oakton unit that I like, but it can't be used continuously. The PinPoint unit has gotten good reviews.

I am not controlling anything if that is what you mean by meter. I really just need to monitor the pH. I think I'll get the pinpoint.

Do I need the probe storage solution? is that for times when I do not have the probe in the tank?

I bet you guys could tell me how the make a probe storage solution and save my $15...right?

You could upgrade to a controller that has PH monitoring. I really love my ACjr. It was 280 for everything after shipping.

Find a friend with a water softner that uses potassium chloride. Ask for a "nugget" size piece or 2 soak them in RO/DI water (shot glass size) for a couple of hours ans stirring ocasionally. The closer you get to a saturated solution the better.

Note that the KCl will most likely not fully dissolve.
