I have my hardwood floors being redone how harmful would the oder be 2 days after the last coat is put on? i want to make sure I don't mess up my tank putting it back too soon.

the polyurethane is naturally oil based stuff.

Has any one had this experience before?

I heard a story about someone staining/poly floors with a tank in the room and it killing the fish. It should be safe days later tho, vent the house if it still stinks. Ive used tank stands/canopys that still had a slight smell of poly without a problem.

Cool thanks I am hopeful that nothing bad will happen. I will have this to address after transporting my fish for 10 hrs.

I just don't want to have this be too big of an issue. i will have the salt water mixed up in the garage but will make the call once I get there. if it still smells too bad I will setup at my parents which will involve moving the water to their house. I took a 90 down and decided that I could not set it up with the foors etc I was just asking for trouble. I have a bunch of coral that i do not want to loose. it would suck too much.

I would run carbon to be sure you are not getting any contamination from the air exchange. If you have corals that you are particulary worried about, I would be happy to give you space in one of my systems to hold them until everything settles in, and your tank parameters are stable.

Let me know if I can help,

Randy
