Powder Blue tang

Well I bought a powder Blue tang about 2 weeks ago. It was pretty skinny when I got it. Well I have ben Quarentining it in my refugium were I have lots of red macro for him to eat. I have also been feeding him misids to help faten him up. Well what I think is his belly is getting larger. Where is the fishes stomach? Is it at the bottom where you would exspect it to be just behind the mouth?

put a clip of seaweed-nori in the tank he is in, have it available to him 24/7

When your looking at the health of a fish, look at the dorsal area "the back". That is where a fish puts on it's weight and yours has very little meat in that area. A pinched stomach is not necessarily an indication of malnurishment, just that some meals have been skipped recently. On the other hand, if the fish is lacking girth along the lateral line that is a clear indication that the fish is malnurished. Feed this fish Spectrum pellets as many times a day as you can, within reason, and like ThrowinRoost said keep some nori available to him 24/7. Mysis soaked in Selcon would be great also. Keep an eye on those "spots" and get an action plan together now in the event that they grow in number.

The thing is the ick will only get worse, and eventually he will die from it. When I bought a PBT 2 years ago he was covered in ick, he was on sale probably because they knew he would die. I got him for $29.99. He ate well but was skinny. I put him in QT and a week later started hypo on him. In 5 days the ick fell off to never return. He was in QT for 8 weeks getting him eating well. 2 Years later he is the prize of my tank, 4-5 inches and very fat, I have a ick free tank only because of diligent QT and all fish get hypo. My personal experience with this fish is that they eat like a horse and you must have a ick free tank, that is the key to keeping this fish. If there is ick in your tank chances are he will not survive.

It needs to be fed more - almost as much as it will take. It could also have internal paraistes. If it is in QT, you can treat it with prazipro. If not, then check out some medicated food.

Macro isn't as good as nori. Most fish cannot even really digest some forms of macro.

Will it eat pellets? If so, then a good spirulina/seaweed based pellet will fatten them up quick as well.
