power went out, but no notice of failure in AC3?

So this morning the house power went out for a bout 1 minute, then came back on. I checked the tank on the way out the door to work and all seemed fine... when I got to work though I was expecting to see an email or something about the power failure and didnt get one.

also, on the web page, under status, I see

Power Failed: None
Power Restored: None

do I have to turn this on somehow or configure it somehow?

Do you have a battery connected to it? Without the battery, it won't be logging the power failure since it was completly off.

For the email notification to work, you would also need to get any device related to your internet connection on a UPS. I do not know if the controller will retry a failed SMTP connection. On my ACIII pro it seems it does not.

I thought it would know about the powerfailure because of the internal battery? the failure was only a minute, the internal battery should have ridden through that...

I don't think there's an internal battery in the AC3 since there's backup battery jack to connect an external one.

There is a battery in the AC3 & AC3PRO, and it is only used to power the internal clock. You must have the external backup power to the controller for it to log the power failure.

well the RTC battery doesn't count :).

How about retrying SMTP connections until it succeeds? What is the current behaviour? Does it quit if there's a connection error?

use the second 9v plug that is on the controller with the transformer plugged into a UPS

The purpose of the battery backup port on the AC3 and AC3Pro is to keep the until powered during power failures, so that an email or webserver functionality will work. For these functions to work you'll have to have your router, and dsl/cable modem plugged into a UPS. So just plug a second AC adapter into the UPS and connect it to the AquaController's battery connector.
