protein skimmer waste production

how much waste should my skimmer produce ??? i hooked a drain line from skimmer to empty 5 gail pail . over next 3 days must have produced 3 or 4 gal of waste water ?? is this good or have i messed up my skimmer production

It sounds like you either have a big tank producing alot of waste or are running your skimmer pretty wet.

the tank is 120 gal. what do you mean about running skimmer pretty wet and how do i change it?

I like to set my skimmer so the bubbles that come over the top don't immediately break but stick around for a little while. To adjust this depends on the type of skimmer you have. On my aqua-c I adjust the air to give me the skimmate I want. On my euroreef I adjust the height of the water in the skimmer body.
