Hey Plat,

I found mine at 6th Ave. Aquarium in SF, and another reefer I know just bought one from Underwater World in San Bruno... both O. Scyllarus.

You might call 6th Ave or Joe at Underwater World and see if they can get ahold of one for you.

hth!

I talk to the guy in san bruno, he said maybe after the holidays, he also told me that they dont ship well, so for a better chance of just getting one live one, that they would have to order a couple of them!

He told me to just keep checking in with him!

is O. Scyllarus a smasher, or spearer?

Tropical Paradise in San Leandro has them once in a while, I got mine there and a friend got 2 . Mine was a 3 in green smasher (not sure type), his were 4 in and 6 in peacocks. I can't remember their phone number but they had a website www.gotpa.com if they can't order one I'm sure they could call you when they got one. Very good store, great fish, amazing corals. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Hey Febtober,

I absolutely agree on Tropical Paradise being one of the premier stores in the area. I just hadn't ever seen mantises there. I'll have to check in with Eddie over there when I have room for more tanks! :)

Rogue Corps,
The reason you don't see them there often is cuz febtober and I have picked up 3 of the 4 mantises that have been in the store in the last couple months. :) There was a smaller 3" peacock that was there for a while but somebody bought it a while ago. Get Eddie to order one for you or just look out for one at the wholesalers when he goes by there.

While I'm not exactly an employee there... I help Eddie out and go into the store a lot to help him with customers or projects. So even though I'm not on the payroll, I get stuff at very nice discounts. Therefore, I cannot tell you. :) But febtober got his at $25 or so I think...

Aha! Hoarding them all for yourself eh GotChow!? :)

That's okay. I'm about to make a move across the bay and I'd hate to have to net and move 2 mantises. I'm worried about one as it is...

Are you in the Bio program at Davis GC? Ever run into Biogeek (Rob Toonen) over there?

Tropical Paradise is an awesome shop. I've really got to make another trip over there.

Happy Aquarist-ing...

Don't worry, I won't be getting anymore now. I'll post up here next time I see one down there so you guys will know.

Nope, not in the program at UCD... Figured I'd leave my hobby and my job separate from each other. I think it would be funner that way compared to making my hobby my job. That isn't to say that I won't like what I'll be doing, but I always thought kinda like the plumber's toilet is always dirty...
