Quality LED's

Cree are very good LEDs but bridgelux are almost identical and half the price....I already have all the LEDs I need and my light is great....I was just tring to help u guys out...let me know what you guys end up paying per please....also if u search Cree vs bridgelux apparently they used to be made by the same people and there were several lawsuits between the 2 of them and then rights to the technology they were using....

Im jealous! I want to do another build.

Before you buy any heatsink Id suggest a quick run to ACME industrial in Sanford. They have a very large supply of surplus aluminum.

Life. If you find the meanwell that can handle 40 plus LED for a good price please send the information so I can start on a DIY led for my tank

You are correct MrHarvard they are basically the same just different name. I have been researching this for over a year now and at one time they were the same company.

Hey life. I heard running so many drivers isn't great. I need a lot of LEDs for my tank to. But I'm holding out for a driver that can handle 48 to a driver. There is a meanwell driver than can do 48 but rapidled don't have it in stock.

Gator,

I need ton of LED's as well, what Meanwell driver can do 48?

Sounds good enough for me, what info do you need to order? I need 240 myself...

googling the hours now..... type type type..... hahahaha

yea what is the info for the group guy on the led's? what watt are they?
shoot if we can find cheap alum, balast that do 48 and cheap led's this might turn out to be awesome!

The hlg 185 - 48 can do 5 strings of 12 led per driver. I would ask an expert before trusting my math because I ask some on this forum about two months ago. So my memory might be off about the exact LEDs per string.

I haven't really been researching where to buy the driver. I was hoping to find a person or two who wants to do a DIY LEDs with 120 plus LEDs. So you guys came along and now I might get into buying it again. I wanted to assistance and help from other ppl in central Florida just so I don't screw up my self.

Yes the HLG-185-48 is the one we want. Here are some prices I found.

1 – 9 $112.85
10 – 24 $104.79
25 + $98.28

Yea, we should check with Rapid and see if they can get them cheaper as well. This sounds like a good way to go, and I assume you guys read about the issues with the EN's and the surging power issues right? For that reason, I would definitely not use the EN's.

I could get my tank down with 4~5 HLG's for sure.... I may start with a couple and work up from there..

I really want to go LEDs on my 90 build but I can only afford low end fixtures that are not dimmable. And I'm not handy enough to do DIY. Debating what to do should i just get a decent 8 bulb t5 fixture or keeping searching for the right price on LEDs
