Question about Blue Throat Trigger

How large will Blue Jaws get in the home aquarium? I have one that is around 6-7 years old but only 4-5".

It looks like they can max out at about 9 inches in the wild. Biggest I’ve seen, and this was at an aquarium was about 7 or 8 inches. I would imagine their growth slows significantly as they age so it may take a while for yours to get bigger

Thanks. It am just a little curious. The previous owener said he had him for 5 years. Someone before him had him for two. They both kept him in 300 gallon systems. So the fish has to be at least 7. I read they live until 9 maybe longer. So this means a 7 year old plus fish is only 4"-5". Hes got to be older than 7 as most are wild caught. Idk just curious how he could only be 4-5" coming out of a 300g for 5 years.

It could be an aquarium thing too…I know it’s common that yellow tangs can get to dinner plate size but in the aquarium rarely see them bigger than 5-6”
