Question about coral placement

Rat Bastard!
Hello,
I have a dozen frags that have been on my rack for about a month and a half and I'm ready to start attaching them to rocks in the display tank. I've got the rack sitting just below halfway down point in the tank and all the corals have kept good color and polyp extension so I think I'm going to keep them within a few inches of this depth in the tank.

My question concerns a tabling acro that I have (Paradise Table in attachment). I'm thinking that I may keep it at exactly the same height in the tank that I have it now. I figure that if it's lower in the tank when it begins to grow out it won't shade any of my other corals. Is that a pretty typical train of thought or should I simply place it where I think it will look best and be careful with future corals so that I don't put one in its shadow?

Thanks,
Mike

Tables or anything that grows horizontal can be a tough placement choice. If it can take it, I would agree that low is the way to go. But, keep in mind that lots of other sticks if they grow above can do just as much shading...eventually.

One trick is to put it at a slight angle and it can take up a tad less space. I would not go anymore than 15 to 20 degrees for it may make it growout oddly shaped.

If it's a true show piece? Placement concerns be dammed. Make it the central peice and then put low light stuff below it and put the other highlight SPS on the perimeters. A local out my way has a 14 by 17 inch tourqouise and blues greens with purple tipped Efflo that is so fantastic it well makes up for the fact that the other SPS are just honorable mentions in comparision.
