well there was a thread on here that i believe was closed or something about weather or not a picture of an Atlantis Aquarium blue blasto was "for real" . The picture that you see on this thread is a real picture taken in our reef flat with 250 mogul 20000k bulbs with 2 96watt pc actinics. The tank is not that blue in color the bulbs are brand new radiums we just put them on there a month or so ago. Another thing for all RC members to know we NEVER photoshop any of our corals. We think that its very unprofesional to give false information to customers for our own benifit. We take extreme measures to provide the best corals available for our clients, down to hand feeding each coral and constant monitoring daily. Any camera tricks we may do is change the white in the picture to actually DULL DOWN the blues for some corals like i said we do not want any reefers getting false info on our pics, and if a coral looks different than it is on the website if you call to order we will tell you the color will be different and may even send you more detailed photos before ordering. Here is another pic of those same blue blastos under 20ks with no actinic supplementing. I threw in a couple more for you guys too drool over in the mean time. By the way my name is Tim Marshall I personally work at Atlantis by helping maintain the reef systems and provide customer service. Hope you guys enjoy the pics. Thanks for reading this and sorry for any false judgments. TM

ok

ok

well i was one of the main respondants on that thread and i only said that the pic was taken under heavy actinics (radiums would fit that description) and that it had been color corrected (white balance). i think a couple of detractors got on that thread and made it negative when it was not. here is the other thread.

here is the original pic put up.

i see a difference but it is only in the white balance adjustment. i think people jump to conclusions alot of times and do not have all the facts. nice blastos.

part of me is sorry I even started that other thread, I just wanted to get some opinions before I considered shelling out $50 a head for something that may look slightly different in person. I think everyone on RC needs to lighten up a little, other people's opinions is what this whole site is about. I for one have bought from atlantis before, which is why I considered buying something I had never even heard of before from them, because I trust them. but that being said, I have taken many pics of my corals before and due to many factors, photos don't always come out perfect and don't look exactly like the coral, due to lighting, camera, etc. so everyone please stop the fighting and realize that all I wanted to know was if anyone else had ever seen one that looked exactly like this somewhere before, to assure me that the photo captured the true color of the blastos. thanks and happy reefkeeping.

If you rack a bear in the nuts, be prepared to die!

ROTFL! Nice to see another Bob & Tom fan at my level of obsession. :)

Peace,
