Questions about Green Long Tentacle Plate Coral (Videos and Photos)

I bought this beautiful Green Long Tentacle Plate Coral recently, and I've noticed some odd behavior. I love this guy and ANY helpful information to keep him alive would be awesome. I know they can be a bit tricky.

I have a few questions:

1) At times its tentacles are nice a long, and other times it puffs up like a donut and they are short. Is this normal behavior?
2) Is it too close for comfort to my toadstool?
3) Is it a problem that it is up against the glass of the tank?

While I can't comment on 2 of your questions, I can say that my short tentacle plate like it right up against my glass. Been there for 2 years now and no issues.

Mine often puffs up like your video right after it eats.

The guy at my LFS said "œit won't move." He is dead wrong. It has already moved away from the glass an inch or two.

In a 16 gallon tank this could get dicey!

So far she is doing really really well.

OOh they can move. They puff up and deflate, its a rudimentary way of moving, but it works... slowly....

I've seen mine actually drag its tentacles in the sand to try and "drag" itself where it wants to go. But typically they won't move, much. In 2 years mine sometimes gets blown away from the glass(maybe a 1/2 or so) when I crank the pumps up after feeding, by morning it's back against the glass.
