Questions on HQI ballasts

Coralife markets their DE metal halide systems as HQI, which leads me to believe that it is in fact an M81 ballast (keep in mine that so far all Coralife DE fixtures are 150w). If this is true, which 150w DE bulb will give me the best PAR reading?

the coralife ballasts in 150w are actually electronic. every ballast is different so if you arent using a ballast that JBNY or Sanjay have tested there are no numbers available.

well, I personally am not positive on that since the ballast in encased in epoxy and when i took mine apart to check, I couldnt access the actual ballast.

All Coralife info on these lights says the 150w HQI is an electronic ballast. Until I have evidence to show otherwise that is what I believe.

Even if it is an M81 ballast, It still wont do you any good since the Coralife ballasts have not been tested.

ChinChek787,

don't forget some companies, called DE bulbs HQI, so if there system has DE, they called it sometimes "HQI" setup,

is this the one you got
http://www.hellolights.com/15hqicoaqpep.html

example, hellolights calls the bulbs HQI
"A. Absolutely NOT! NEVER run ANY electrical component such as lighting directly over exposed water!!! Metal Halide bulbs, especially HQI, "

on that setup they state magnetic ballast, but that does not mean is HQI magnetic, could be just regular magnetic,

if that's the unit, give them a call, they will know for sure, and maybe if its not even that one,

sam
