quick t squamosa questions

do they attach to rock or do they sit on sand? ive asked this a couple of times but is 4*54w T-5 HO sufficient lighting? i can put the clam anywhere from 8 inches (rock work) to 20 inches (coral rubble "sand") from the water surface. the lights are suspended 2 1/2 inches from the surface. was planning to get one soon but was surpised with a gift wednesday, so things havent been planned out. right now i have the clam roughly 16 inches from the surface, seems alright at the moment but i cant tell when a clam is not doing well. any advice would be appreciated?

The advice I was given with my squamosa worked. Take a small flat rock or 1/2 of a tile (bathroom tile) and place the squamosa on it and push a little sand around it to stabalize it. It will attach after a couple of days and then you can move it. As for the light I am no expert but would think you should be ok.

ok thanks. anyone know about the lighting issue? you all right though, this should be in the clams section, but i hope it still helps.
