Ok so I got my plumbing and sump up and running today and im not sure it is working properly. I was just wondering if anyone else is using this pump and could tell me about how much flow they are getting through there returns. I can barely feel any flow coming out of the returns and it just doesnt seem right to me. it is only about four feet from the pump up to the top of the tank and the main hose from the pump runs up to a T- intersection of PVC so that i can have flow on both sides of the tank. I thought i would be getting much more flow than i am currently getting. is this normal or did i screw something up? and suggestions are much apreciated.

Do you have any ball valves on it? What size tubing are you using? Smaller the tubing, the more pressure it will have, therefore loosing more GPH on the flow.

You did not say what size or type returns you are using. If pvc, just insert unthreaded reducer bushings to increase the pressure.
Just stick them in, no glue.

here are some number for the quite one 4000. Remember every bend in the pipe is considered 6" of head.

@ 2': 880
@ 4': 770
@ 6': 600
@ 8': 400
@ 10': 50

So if you have 4' up with 2 bends over the tank, then a T to split flow in 1/2, then another bend on each side and a another foot or so. You're probably getting close to 9' of head plus you've cut the flow in half with the t. Sounds like you should have a bigger pump to me, but I"m no pro at this.

I run a mag 5 like that it has 3\4" PVC till the last 2" then its reduced to a 1\2" and what RichConley said 1"is what that pump is set up for.
