Well no one can accuse me of "overstocking" my tank now. I have lost Doobie (the cowfish), Stoner (blennie) Pebbles (gobie) Steeler (the unknown fish) .
Fish that are left: Spot (dog face puffer) Beauty (emperor snapper) Bob and Tom (marine catfish) Nemo (clownfish) Angel (keyhole angel fish). We brought the salinity down to the recommended level for 2 weeks. We fresh water bathed Spot but we couldn't catch the others. Everyone's appetite is still good, but you can see the white spots on Beauty and Spot. Nothing on Nemo, Angel or Bob and Tom. I just tested and the ph, ammonia and nitrates are fine. I opened the test kit for the nitrites and the box didn't have any test chemicals in it (my luck just runs from bad to worse). The water looks as clear as a bell even without the protein skimmer running (we turned it off to dose the tank with Kick-ich. I'm thinking about doing another freshwater bath with Spot, but the last time he "puffed" and I was so scared it would do damage. I'm not giving up. I am convinced it was the last fish I got (Pebbles from Coral Reef) that brought the ich into the tank. NO more fish until I get a hospital tank for sure. :sad1:

Did all of these fish just die today?
No. Doobie died yesterday, Pebbles died today, Stoner died last week. (I only found part of him, the others (yuk) ate most of him. And he looked very healthy the night before. Steeler died 10 days ago, but I watched him die, he grabbed a brine shrimp and started convulsing (I'm thinking choking) and went belly up. I think Steeler was a freak accident. I'm depressed. If I can't even keep fish alive, I'll never be able to have a reef tank. :(

So the cowfish was the first to die? Sounds like that could have been the cause of the others dying.

No. the cowfish was the last to die-well, could have been second to last- Pebbles always hid in the rocks, I "found" her after I got off work tonight, she could have expired sooner. I really doubt that Doobie released any "toxins" as in my research they all regurgitated the same old same old about cowfishes and I found one book that stated it was just the Hawaiian blue cowfish that did that. My tank has been up since Christmas.

how old is the tank? It is pretty new, right? Perhaps you are simply stocking it too fast.
well, the last fish I got was about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I think it brought the ich in.

I'm with Jen your tank is pretty new and you've got some fish that aren't exactly new tank fish......

Mine was a 29 back in 1985 I think... had a 24" NO aquarium bulb, crushed coral, an air powered UG filter, and a couple pieces of lava rock. The goal was to keep nemos even then...
:D

Tim if you call them nemos one more time I swear I will, well I don't know what I will do but it will be bad :D
