I was wondering, once you've passed the water through R.O. do you still have to treat the water in order to get rid of the chloramine or does the R.O. unit take the chloramine out. Thanks
A very good carbon block will remove the chlorine portion of chloramines but the ammonia wil stil be present. RO membranes ate only about 90% efficient of all forms of ammonia so a very good DI resin with good contact time like in a 20 oz vertical bottom up flow canister will polish off the ammonia.
Lower quality carbons do not do as good a job nor do small 6-9 oz horizontal DI filters.
