Radiata getting very big

I have a big trach radiata that was a steal at $30, and is 8-9 inches across, but in my 40 his is getting on the big side. Am I able to frag him into smaller pieces without it destroying it?

Ive seen it done before, with variable success rates. Id suggest a band saw or a tile saw. Most of the time those corals have lobes that pinch together somewhat- those small gaps are where you want to try and separate it. Ive heard some suggest that you should take a razor blade and cut the tissue clean over the spot that you intend to saw apart to reduce the trauma to the actual tissue from a spinning blade... and if I were trying to frag the piece, I would probably do that too.

If you decide to try it, post pics and updates, would you please? Its just not one of the more commonly done corals.

Hold the coral upside down and swirl it in the water until polyps are as closed as possible. Use a tablesaw to cut the rock underneath the coral up to about 1/4" below the flesh. Then cut the coral w/ a razor blade along the cuts underneath. You should be able to break the coral apart, or continue to cut the underside.
