I have had a frag of rainbow monti for almost 2 months now. It is doing well great polyp extension. It was well established before I bought it so it wasn't a fresh cut. Within the last week or so all the orange polyps turned green. Any idea what would cause it to do change like that? All my other sps are doing great and growing like weeks. Params are as follows

temp - 80
salinity - 1.025
calcium - 400ppm
alkalinity - 9dkh
ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 0 this was last time I tested its been a few weeks.

I also change 2.5 gallons twice a week. The rest of my tank stats can be seen clicking on my info. Thanks guys I would like to get the color back in this color.

I have had a few montis change colors as well. Lighting, and nutirents (too many or lack thereof) have a lot to do with it. Where is it placed in relation to your lights?

It is about half way down on my 15g. I would say it is about 8-10 inches from the light. I am going to have my nitrates tested and see where they are at.

This might be normal. On rainbow montis the new growth polyps will be red/orange and as it matures they turn green

I have a rainbow monti that I could never get to color up nicely. It was being bleached from my 250watt 15k XM bulb and I could never find that sweet spot in my tank for it. I fragged it and sold them except for 1 piece. I put it back in the sand (one of the places I originally had it). I ended up switching to a 20k XM bulb and the coloration is turning much better. For me, I could just never find that sweet spot and now it is looking better than ever with the 20k bulb.
