Raising pH; Prepping RO/DI water

I just found out that I have s low pH in my tank. The pH is about 7.8. I have just started using RO/DI water, before I used to top off with conditioned tap water and this always kept the pH at 8.2. I am almost positive that my pH has went down because I am just adding RO/DI water. Anyways I need to know how to raise the pH of the water and how to prep the Ro/DI top off water before I put it in the tank in the future. Please I need help. I thank you in advance.

There are products you can buy to do this and most work well; however, have you tested your RO/DI water? The lowest it should be is 7, but most likely itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s higher. Also, when are you testing your tanks pH? At different times of the day and night it will be different. If its below 8 at in the middle of the light cycle then you probably have elevated nutrients in which more water changes should be done to off set this in the short run.

drip it over some rock in a chamber or somthing. i know lots of people who do this. the ph of ro water is 5-7 ( according to the reef aquarium)

Adding RO-DI water won't lower the pH significantly because it lacks any buffering. For similar reasons, the pH tends to be unmeasureable using hobbyist equipment. The article posted should help. What is the alkalinity level of the tank?
