RAREst fish in your sps tank

Nope, he's been good... Many members of this genus like goldflakes are kept with sps... The pricing structure on these guys is like that of the conspiculatus in that the price goes up as they get smaller. Like regals though, don't touch any over 5 inches as they're pretty set in their diet...

Thanks for the info. Since the pyramids are ok with SPS.. how about LPS or softies?

I recently added a few Symphyllia, which are in that tempting "meaty LPS" category, and honestly these guys could care less...

Oh and another positive on the pyramids... they WIPE OUT aptasia better than any CBB I've ever seen... :)

For those interested in a bandit angel you could shoot me a PM...

Carole, these butterflies settle in very well and feed quickly in captivity as is common with most planktivores. I regularly see them each year when I travel to Hawaii and Micronesia, and they shoal in large groups high up off of the reef feeding on plankton. There is a close relative to this fish, Hemitaurichthys zoster, that is found in the Indian Ocean and fairly attractive. The other members of the genus are quite bland and therefore not collected. Some of the well known online places will get them from time to time...

Devilboy, when you dd them to the tank is not to critical, as they settle in well, are not aggressive, and can take a beating fairly well compared to other butterflies...

Thanks Copps. I am looking for a small reef safe butterfly, a small reef safe angel.

Since the Pyraminds are planktivores, and the wrasses i will have is a planktivore will they fight for food in the tank?

Have you or anyone else bought any fish from marine center dot com?

Copps, I've always admired your beautiful fish & corals.
Always blows me away when I see pics of your tank, one of the best!

Have you had any experience with keeping the Multifasciatus with sps?

Pyramids and wrasses mixing together should not be an issue... There are other vendors I prefer over TMC, like Liveaquaria for one...

The multi has not bothered sps, although all Centropyge are unpredictable and one needs to decide how much they want an angel first... I test out specimens in my frag tank before adding to any display, and am always willing to take the risk due to my love for these fish! :)

new guinea or china wrasse, had him about 9 months now, when he bites into mysis you can hear it.

Copps-----

Do you have a personal thread/website with all the details of your tank? I have so many questions, but know you dont have time for them so if you have one a link would be greatly appreciated. BTW how often do you get out to Hawaii?

Keep in mind those fish are spread through different systems. I do not have a website but whenever I get the time I'll put one together... you could check out one of my systems at this link where it's TOTM on our local board... aside from that just do a search on my name on RC here and you'll find all sorts of stuff as my interests go well beyond just fish...

I travel to Hawaii about once a year... was there in October and am heading back out this October where I do work in Pearl Harbor as a contracted systems engineer on a submarine trainer for the Navy. The wife and I always extend that trip into a vacation, and this year we're going to hit Molokai and Lanai, the two islands we have yet to visit...

Twon, I love the Anampses... I never have enough room for everything that floats my boat! :o :D

Thanks,

John

That's a nice interruptus Edward...looks like a nice tank too :).

The Japanese always have the best angels....I saw a tiny 2 1/2" - 3" conspic, resplenden, joculator and debelius all in the same tank.
