Re-seeding/diversifying a DSB

My 75g mixed reef is coming up on 2 years old and I figure it might be a good idea to re-seed my DSB to keep it healthy/working. What is the best way to do this? I've heard sand swaps, a few pounds of live rock, detrivore kits from online vendors, and a few other ways. The kits aren't cheap, but getting a good diversity of critters from live rock/sand, isn't guaranteed either. What do you think?

the best way is to find a few local reefers, and swap a few cups with each every 6 months or so
