reactor maintenance

I have about a 80g system with a calcium reactor. My water parameters a good and I'm not sure when I need to change the medium in the reactor. It's been on-line for about 7mo. Is it time now, or are there signals to watch for?

When the media is mostly gone, or when the reactor is no longer seemingly able to produce the same output, its time to change it. If the tank parameters are fine, then it probably isn't time yet.

Anyone else have opinions on that?
