Hi, all,

We want to make the lives of our local hobbyists easier. I know many have expressed frustration about having to look multiple places to buy/sell things, or with the policies on Reef Central. Now that we have the new site up and running at www.marinecolorado.org with PM and all of the appropriate features for arranging transactions, we invite you to post all of your buy/sell/trade threads there. This allows you to see, in the same forum, stuff from all local sources, including newer members and our sponsor stores to help you make the best purchasing decision.

If you are willing to ship, willing to follow the RC policies (can be found here), and want the broader audience that Reef Central provides, please use the RC buying and selling forums

Thanks!
Christina

There are right now 15 people that I can see browsing this forum.....looking at the MASC site there are only 2. Things sell faster here because there is more traffic. I have a bunch of stuff that I was going to post tonight for sale but if the club is limiting the local selling to the MASC forum then wouldnt I be better off posting it on DARC's forum or ebay?

dont want to cause a big stink, just wonderin if this is new Policy or ??

I don't post on here much but I felt I needed to with this thread. You have a board here. More people come to this board. So why wouldn't people prefer to post their items here? Even people from other clubs, or not affiliated with any club, post and browse in this forum. I honestly don't see any real reason not to post items in this forum, especially if they'll sell quicker. Just my 2 cents.

I'm glad others had similar thoughts to mine.

I never considered the "Rocky Mountain Reef Central" forum to be "property" of the local club(s). I always just considered it a "Reef Central" Forum for people who were geographically co-located. For that reason it was the perfect place to post "want to sell" or "want to buy/trade" threads since people who are close together are much more likely to want to buy/sell with one another.

Frankly I was suprised & disappointed when the name changed.

Also, I can't afford to pay for a membership. Heck, I work at a fish store so I can even afford my tank.

Looks lke I have to pay to be a member and post there??

I'm not even remotely interested in using the other website- if we're forced to then I'm definitely (especially) not interested!
We had this discussion quite a while back, and I STILL don't care to deal with any extraneous baloney nor any 'official' entity....more power to you all who choose to go along with the additional invasiveness and pointless changes that have nothing to do with enjoyment of the hobby if that's your idea of fun, but not for me.
Couldn't you just start your own forum and leave ours well enough alone? I guess not....
This is exactly the kind of thing that several of us were saying we didn't want to happen a year or so ago. I want this to be easy and fun, not in a quagmire of rules and regulations and additional 'heaviness' brought on by the whole political scene. I have enough of that in my REAL life, thank you very much!
Please restore the original forum and either start another one here on RC for MASC in addition to your other one if you feel that you must have some 'official' presence on RC!

I'll be contacting the RC moderators to ask them to split the forum for us. If you agree, please send them a note as well. I'd still like to participate in a Rocky Mountain Area forum, but I don't care to have any affiliations with MASC for the reasons stated above. Do your own thing, but leave mine alone!

I think Christina is/was suggesting posting on www.marinecolorado.org site becuase RC does have rules that new users can not post for sales threads until they have 50 post adn have been here 90 days. There have been several new users post deleted because they did not follow RC's rules which since it is their site I'm fine with it. Christina I think was just giving everyone new and old a place to post for sales threads www.marinecolorado.org site and have it as a one stop shopping.

As far as the name change, RMRC/MASC are one adn the same, they just changed their name. The local RMRC asked RC to create the RMRC forume and now they have asked them to change the name the MASC, which since they asked for it to be created they can change the name too.

As far as for me, I am not a "member" of any of the local clubs however I do go to events that that I want to.

no offense Christina, This is the forum that I use and will continue to do so. I have always had good luck posting here because this is the forum that most area reefers look at.

I understand that you are trying t make things easier and better, but the consensus of this thread would say otherwise.

Respectfully,

Jimmy

I'm just not interested in the club, and certainly not in using any of their forums/websites. I remember when this was all in the works, and I was vocal about it then as well for the exact same reasons.
I have nothing against Christine either- I've met her when she came to my house to pick up a clam in one of our group buys (one of the first ones!) -just the entire escalation of excess rigmarole really turns my stomach. I don't call it 'easier' or 'better'....I call it 'different' and 'unattractive'. I'm just not interested!
I talked to one of the RC moderators and they are discussing the situation.
I just want a separate forum for 'the rest of us' because I don't care to continue to participate under the name MASC because I'm NOT. Everyone should be allowed to read/comment/post as usual but it shouldn't be attached to MASC in any way.
I'm not trying to be difficult- I see the entire fiasco as additional complication and difficulty foisted upon everyone else despite their wishes and I would rather be completely independent and not subject to the overall veil of MASC- period. I don't agree with the plan, I guess. 'New and Improved' sometimes doesn't apply....more like 'If it ain't broke-'

Pssstt...DARC is the other forum on RC...this one is MASC.

On the subject, I have to admit that I am a creature of habit. It's not that I cannot accept change, but given the choice, I'd rather stay with what I know works. Will I post on the new MASC boards? I probably will. Will I continue to post here? Yep, I definately will. When I'm ready to sell my 90 where will I post it? Probably here and there both. It's all about traffic and you have to admit that for the moment at least, RC has it.

The new site will eventually catch on, until then I think we should be permitted to post local for sales in either place.

I might have generated a wee bit of froth at the corner of my mouth that affected my typing....sorry....I'm a rabid hunt and peck typist!! LOL
Fixed my typos....But-
For the record....
I'm AGAINST DARC too! LOL I'm an equal opportunity despiser!

Why Mr Lizard!!

DARC isn't against you. You are welcome to post in our forum anytime. :)

There are several formus here on RC with Colorado related content. As of today, there is DARC, SCMAS and MASC. Both MASC and SCMAS have their own websites as well.

I do understand that many folks have been using the RMRC forums but have not necessarily aligned themselves with either RMRC or MASC. To the best of my knowledge, any RC member can post in any forum, as long as RC rules are followed.

While RMRC/MASC do not 'own' this forum, they do have the ability to influence what happens here.

The DARC forum came about when similar issues arose. Anyone can form a group and petition RC for space.

Christina is correct in that folks who post on non-RC sites, like marinecolorado.org or thescmas.com are not subject to RC rules, specifically new users wishing to sell and OT sales. Typically though, new users find the RC forums first.

In my opinion, which when teamed with 75 cents will buy you a cup of coffee, all of us would be better off with a non partisan RC forum where everybody is welcome. We just need a neutral party to over see it so none of the old bad blood comes into play. Allow the two clubs with websites a sticky directing people to their sites and DARC one pointing to their RC forum if they think it would be useful.

Grim just wanna have fun, Let me close by saying Sucker socks:D (I miss Misfit)
