Hey Guys,
i was thinking of getting a reciculating skimmer i now have an ETSS 600, but i was wondering how much more effecient it would be?

IMO, they are the best skimmer out there on the market. But thats just IMO, everybody has their different opinions. :)

Elephen, i know that is the #1 reason why Deltec is so popular and has susch a great reputation, Rbonick, i was wondering the same thing.

BUY A DELTEC

BUY A DELTEC

I HAD A ETSS 600 PRO AND MY APF 600 DELTEC BLOWS THE ETSS OUT OF THE WATER. THESE ARE THE BEST SKIMMERS OUT THERE THEY PULL SOME NASTY STUFF OUT. THAT THE ETSS NEVER WOULD. JUST MY 2 CENTS:D

I'm upgrading from a euroreef cs5-2 to a ASM G2 with the recirc mod. It should arrive next week. I'll post pictures when it is set up.

Rbonick, would love to see some pics when you have it setup.
thanks for your comments guys.

I think that the RC setup allows for more of a fine tuning, especially when it comes to wet skimming.....

I HAVE USED MANY BRANDS STATED EARLY DELTEC ARE NOT GOOD THE ARE AWSOME IF YOU NVER USED ON THEN YOU HAVE NO IDEAI. YES THEY ARE EXPENSIVE BUT WHEN YOU BUY A DELTEC IT IS THE LAST SKIMMER YOU WILL EVER BUY.:D

Julio, I've run a lot of different skimmers and there are obviously many ways to "skin the cat". What makes you unhappy with the ETSS? I will preface this with admitting that downdrafts are one of my least favorite skimming methods, but they can work. Is there a specific problem you are trying to address? I like recirculating needlewheels (I own both a Deltec and an ER RC), but it's not the one and only way to go. What makes one skimmer better than another is quite an individual choice. Becketts are very good for some people, albeit I don't see how a recirculating design couldn't make that even better.

So I guess what I'm asking, is why do you feel you need a more powerful skimmer?

Hey Bob i wrote you back

Moonpod:
I am not upset with my skimmer, but i need to upgrade since i have a high fish load in my reef tank. Although my tank is doing well, i am sure it could be better. I think recirculating would be the best way to go, since it gives more contact time in the reaction chanber and the water gets cleaned a lot better.

i dont think you can go wrong with any type of recirculating skimmer. they are the most effecient design to date.

Do you guys know of plans to change a standard ER into a RC model? I wouldn't mind doing that if there were already plans.

thanks,
phish

Hey Phis,
did you do a search on the DIY forum? i know there were wuite a few people who converted their skimmers.
