I have an ETSS 800 Pro with a Pan World 150PS pump. Works great but have others seen better results with the Beckett mod? Would my Pan World pump be sufficient to run 2 becketts? Thanks for any help!
I did the mod to my ETSS 600 with a mag4 pump I am getting alot more skim mate out of it since the mod. I didn't do anything fancy, I used PVC and used a compression fitting/ telescoping fitting and a threaded female to slip male reducer to fit the downspout. I also put to O rings on the part the goes in the downspout
From the top left working down:
1 1/2" Union - going up one size doesn't restrict the flow.
1 1/2" to 1" reducer
1" Compression fitting top
Beckett
second piece:
1" Compression fitting bottom - removed the sliding piece and discard
1 1/2" threaded male to 2" female reducer. - threaded part held on better, make sure you glue this part good.
2- 2" o rings - made notches with my dremmel to fit along with some food quality lube.
The only thing that concerns me is if the Pan World 150 PS is strong enough to drive dual becketts on an ETSS 800. Never used a beckett skimmer before so I have no expeience with what is needed to drive them. Thanks for the help!
I would start with on becket and then see on the second. I am not familiar with the PW 150. with 180 gallon reef you should be fine to see if two is needed.
I did some more research on this mod and decided that my pump would probably not supply enough water/pressure to 2 becketts. Most of the threads that I could find on beckett skimmer mods said that you need at least 1000 gph per beckett to make them work correctly.
I decided to try using duck tape with a small hole over the air intakes on each column. This worked suprisingly well . The first section of the riser tube looks like it is solid white with tiny bubbles. The bubbles then seperate and get larger after the first flange until the foam and water separates leaving this nasty brown/green sludge. I have the collection container that is made by ETSS and it is half full of dark green liquid that smells terrible even through the carbon air filter.
I have 2 beckett venturis now and am still not opposed to trying the mod if I can hear a success story using 2 becketts. Just unsure.
