recommendation for effluent valve

I seem to be having trouble keeping my effluent at a steady rate,
so I am looking for suggestions on a good needle valve or gate valves that people use. pics and links if possible.

It a GEO reactor fed by a mj1200

I am using a regular small ballvalve for sprinklers that you can get for a drip irrigation system from a local hardware store, however I was having a hard time keeping a constant drip with this valve until I got a new feed pump, I was using a small rio powerhead to feed the reactor and it couldn't keep the pressure built up in the reactor, so I tee'd off from me return for a feed pump and now I have a constant drip.

I considered that, but the instructins with the GEO reactor I have made it very clear not to use a larger feed pump, I assume some of the fittings are designed to hold the higher pressure.

I used one of these John Guest fittings. It holds the effluent rate much better than the needle valve.
