I want to treat my tank this weekend (treatments 1 and 2) and next weekend (treatment 3). Is it ok to treat this Saturday and treat again this Sunday or should I wait longer between the first two treatments ?

I think its best that you have about a week between treatments. The reason for having them spaced out is two fold, 1. killing off any surviving adults 2. killing off any recently hatched eggs. (assuming there are eggs of course)

I treated once and just added some carbon and poly pads after seven hrs. and didn't do a water change for one week and then changed 10% and then back to my 5 gals. a week routine. I have approx.80 gals of water. It has been almost 4 weeks and my corals look like they used to all brite colored and full of polyps. I haven't seen any bugs come back and I had them bad. I would do one teatment and wait and see if you get them back before doing more, just my opinion, you can always hit them again.

I treated my tank this week for the first time. I will follow the rreatment up with two more, at weekly intervals.

I did not lose 1 shrimp, but I did lose lots of pods and acro crabs. I am glad I did not lose more but I actually overdosed since I did not subtract out rock or sand volume. So far, no red bugs, not one even under my magnifying glass, but I am still wondering if I dosed enough....1.25 pills for around 470 gallons. If ignore the wall thickness of my tank then the volume is closer to 500 gallons which would require 1.3 pills. I think I will use this larger dose for the next 2 treatments. Any comments, suggestions, etc ?

Just wondering, have many people lost their mandarins after doing the treatments due to the pods dying?

o.k., a fellow reefer was kind enough to inform me that I have the bugs. Sorry if I gave them to you. I had no idea. I had even bought a dragonface pipefish as a precautionary measure. just failed to quarantine anything. I'm going to try to get some interceptor from a fellow reefer today. Just in case, can you order this online anymore?
I'll be trying to catch all my shrimp once they become more sedated in the first treatment. Just when I thought everything was going so well. :(

Sound like we are talking about some kind of V.D. LOL

I treated my Via Aqua 18 with Interceptor

I treated my Via Aqua 18 with Interceptor

Hey All,

I just thought I'd share my experiences. I've done 2 of 3 Interceptor treatments. I'll follow up with the third treatment this coming saturday the 5th of February. I noticed these SPS parasites on a monti digi and a blue/purple acro that was really only tan while the bugs were doing their thing. After the first treatment, I could see zero red bugs. It was very encouraging! Of course, all of my hermits died - blue-legs and scarlet reef hermits. I noticed that everything else was fine, and the monti's polyps (which I hadn't seen for MONHS) were out, and the same happened with the acro. I have been keeping an eye on all corals, and I haven't seen a red bug since, but I did the second treatment anyway, just in case. And I'll also do that with the third treatment.

I don't have a milligram scale, so i used a mortar and pestle and ground up the pill. I mixed this with a half-liter of RO water, and mixed. I dose 50 milliliters of this solution into my tank, then do the 25% water change plus carbon after 6 hours, then another 25% water change and new carbon the next day. It is a very worthwhile and foolproof remedy. It didn't affect my clam, snails, sponges, or other corals. Besides the death of my hermit crabs, I see absolutely no downside.

Just curious, has anyone been able to save the acro crabs by removing them before treating with the intercepter. And put them back afterwards.

nearly 24 hours after my first treatment and after much observation, i appear to now be bug free. i have a 50g tank w/ 10g refugium, plus remora HO, CA Reactor and ~50lbs of LR.

i did not have the ability to weigh out the the pills. i chopped the pill up with a razor blade and eyeballed it into 8 parts, assuming that each part will be suitable for about 45 gallons of water. during the first 2-3 hours, i noticed that about half the bugs had stopped moving, but hung on to the acros. at the 5th hour, all acros were clear of bugs.

i've been using a remora skimmer, and since there's no way to stop the bubbling, i simply unplugged it until the 5th hour (ensuring that any bugs caught in the unplugged skimmer would get at least 1 hour with the full dose of medicine. For my next treatment, i may go longer)

to save the few hermits i have left, i put them in the container that had my pre-mixed water for the water change. put them back into my fuge after the water change and they're looking fine.

i had no other losses, and polyp extension is interestingly longer. i will be doing a second treatment in 10 days.

everything does look brighter, but i'm more apt to credit that to the WC and carbon allowing better light penetration.

i was skeptical at first (which is why it took me almost a year to try it), but it's been surprisingly mild on my system and its inhabitants. THANK YOU DUSTIN!

Jeff

Just finished up my third treatment , appear to be bug free, corals seem to be much happier now..... Treatment done just as suggested.

Only issue I see at the moment, slight outbreak of diatoms, should have those fixed soon......

Personal note to Dustin, You are king in my book my friend, I greatly appreciate your efforts on this.........

Just thought I'd tell everybody that I finished my third dose (as per the instructions) in late nov. 04 and as of today I am still completely bug free. And in the last month my 'fuge' has staged an amazing comeback- it is as though I never treated- the pods are back to full population densities. It's ALL GOOD!!- I miss my acro crabs, but the acros are doing so much better that it was a price worth paying..

I just found out I have the BUGS. I'm getting water ready to do the water change after the first treatment . I hope to start in the AM,

BTW,I would like to say thanks Dustin for your hard work, and your generosity in the eradication of the bugs.
