i have this red "cotton ball" algae growing on everything....not hair algae ...but forms a ball ...fine like cotton.....yellow tang will not touch it or crabs.....anybody know what might eat it ???

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EATS THIS ALGAE FROM HELL!!!

My tank is full of it. At first we thought it was so pretty. But when you try to remove it, it breaks apart and reseeds itself in a million places.

Our Emerald does take a stab at it, but I think he's just spreading it more.

It is my firm belief that the end of the world will be a battle between this algae and caulerpa... and this one will win.

I still have no ID on it.

Sounds like Ceramium sp.
I've found it were there's high nutrient input.
It has not done well in my tank really.
It's too shocked from the transplant I think.

Tom Barr

I agree Mexican turbos, know a few people who have had it and the mexican turbos did the trick. I've always had a few in my tank and last year the red cotton algae showed up then disappeared.
