red sea xenia

how much would a good size colony of red sea xenia's go for... say 8 branches? i'm looking to trade and i'm wondering how much i would get before i go to all the trouble of taking it out of the tank and bagging it for 2 hrs (closest store to me)

Well, if you are looking to trade it with your LFS, they probably won't give you much. 8 branches? Is that 8 braches on one stalk or 8 seperate stalks attached to the rock. Either way I can't see them giving you more than $20 dollars trade in, if that. Xenia is pretty easy to grow and often hard to give away, let alone sell. But, then again the people I know are really only into SPS and other stonys.

$10 per stalk or equal trade. It's not worth your trouble otherwise.

It really depends on the supply/demand in your area. One of the LFS by me sells 2-3" single stalks (some branching a bit) for $45, and they give $20 on a similarly sized frag.

But I'd call the LFS and ask them first - because they might be overstocked with it and not even take it.

I agree with tek, if no one around there wants it, the LFS might not take it

better make sure first!

one of my lfs's here pays $5-15 per stalk store credit. im thinking of converting one of my tanks to xenia only.

Why don't you try the selling forum, or maybe a local reef forum in your area?

i would like to get credit for them at the store but i need to know how much its worth because i live in the boonies and the closest fish store to me is 50 miles away!
