Reef Octopus 90 degree output

I RC. I was watching this weeks BRS FAQ video and saw this images of the reef octopus having a 90 degree output. I have trouble with my skimmer spraying water and causing condensation in my sump and was wondering...

Did this come standard with the skimmer or did they make a DIY? I have tried to find a fitting that fits but all schedule 40 pvc does not fit. Did they use the schedule 80 pvc that they sell on their site?

I have been wondering the same thing for a while. I had splashing issues, too. But I covered the skimmer discharge a piece of filter sock to diffuse the spray, but I still get some splash and condensation.

I used a flexible rubber tee from Home Depot and put a cap with an airline in the top to help purge excess air. I didn't use the hose clamps but it's tight enough that it will never come off accidentally. Not exactly sure on the size needed but I just took the gate valve with me to the store.

I made my own a long time ago with a regular schedule 40 PVC elbow. The size needed for what is in your pic isn't common in hardware stores, at least not around here. I just grabbed a cheap elbow and tack glued it on with super glue.
