Reeflux 10k metal halide bulbs

I just saw these at a LFS for a good price. The bulbs gave a very nice clean white look. Sanjay says a 70ppfd with a balast like my PFOs. Anyone have experience with these as far as longevity and consistancy? I have 10kXMs now and they are very bright but a touch to yellow for my taste. I really liked the look of the Reeflux 250watt 10k so I wanted to find out others experience with them.

Thanks

Andrew

I really like mine, they burn into a very nice white/blueish color. I run mine on coralvue eballasts and they have very good penetration. My corals are also looking much better and the growth is kind of suprising.

How long have you had them? My 10kXMs are 1 year old and I am thinking about changing them soon. I may go back to the XMs as I know they have realy high PAR but they are a touch yellow. If the reeflux will go 1 year and still look the crisp white and have decent par, I may give them a shot.

Thanks

Andrew

My bulbs are about 4 months old and look very good still. I have heard that they retain the crisp white/blueish color through out their lifespan but just like any other MH bulb they will lose some par as they get older.

Lighting systems vary just like tanks do. It all depends on how you have them setup, i.e.- eballast, mag ballast, etc.. In addition to how you have yours setup everyone's "view" of a certain kind of bulb differs also. Some people like brand A and others like brand B, it's all in what you like and what's best for your tank inhabitants. If you notice one particular bulb causing problems then obviously you need to try something else, good luck.
