Reefs Edge

I would just llke to say that Reef's Edge is a great store and I would suggest checking it out, however, if buying coral beware. I have bought 4 frags there and only one was okay. I bought two zoa colonies, both were infected w/ Asterina starfish. I also bought a sps and it was covered w/ flatworms. The only piece I have lost is one of the zoa frags, it was completely consumed before I realized what the problem was. Just check before you add to you tank.

Sorry for your losses...but I have bought a few frags from them and they are doing well. I am dying to go back and get more.

It's fine..like I said, it's a great store and I love the people, I just think all coral needs to be examined thoroughly

WE R ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WE PUT IN OUR TANKS NOT THE STORE.
I was just saying...no need for yelling

gasman...we all know this don't be so angry...stores should strive to provide the high quality though..I only mention the problems so that others are sure to examine their coral extra carefully. I perform dips before all corals enter my tank and I do look to make sure that nothing unwanted is entering my tank. I'm not careless..it's just a piece of advice, which is what the forum is for.

ALL corals/livestock should be dipped and QT before they go in your tank. There is no possible way for a store, and I mean any store, to be pest free.

There should be no place for it in this forums or anywhere. (store bashing)
Those guys are also trying to feed their kids and families and there's in my mind no reason to say i got this critter form there that had this bugs just b/c it only gives that store or any other a bad rep for no frikin reason.

I dip every single frikin coral that goes in my tank. I've been doing it for 10 years or so and u know what I've had all kinds of bugs(AEFW-RB-NUDIS) from friends LFS and currently saw some nudis on a monti piece that I got from a reputable lfs in town.
U know so what it is what it is, and we all should b responsible enuff to realize that we r hobbyists and they are not.

Wow this is a rant!

Anyways u want to see a store own by a hobbyist go to coral seas then u realize why Robby has nothing to sell.

Sorry I'm done- U should be thankful u have at least 5-10 stores around with nice livestock.:bum:

As a LFS operator, I can say that sand dwelling wrasses should not go into sandy bottom tanks initially because the will tend to sleep through feedings and will usually not last more than a couple of days. It's far better to keep them bb until the adjust to our time and start eating with other fish. It's not what some may think, we have the fish's best interest at heart.

Besides, in a LFS the turnover rate of fish is considerably higher than that of a hobbyist and sand will give safe haven to a lot of parasitic lifeforms. So, IMO, it is better for the general health the animals in the system if sand is omitted from the high traffic larger fish systems as it is easier to maintain better water quality without it. We do pretty well with sand "sleeping" wrasses by giving them large coral skeletons (which we bleach regularly) to hide out under.

Look who finally came out guys!!!!
