I've been running a basement fish room for 18 months but now it needs to move to the other end of the basement. The display tank upstairs is 220G with Qty2 - 1" drain lines and a single 1" return pipe from the sump pumping back up.
The new sump will be about 100G and I just purchased the huge Hammerhead pump to increase the water circulation. The Hammerhead has a 2" system so I'm wondering where the best place to throttle it down to 1" and patch it into the existing piping is? There is no option to replace the current lines.
The water is being pumped vertically about 18 feet to get back to the display tank. I'm thinking of using 2" from the sump and pumping over 2" up into the roof of the basement. In the roof I would then patch it into the 1" line (about 50% of the head room)
Sorry for the poor terminology, I haven't been on here in a long time.
Thoughts, comments?
